Former FC Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o believes a certain African star has been one of the best players in the world this season.
Egypt international Mohamed Salah returned to the Premier League this season with massive question marks hanging over his head following a poor stint with Chelsea back in 2014.
Since arriving at Liverpool, the 25-year-old has turned his fortune around and has been in sensational form, according to Eto’o.
“He has probably been one of the best players in the world,” Eto’o said, as quoted by The Sun.
“His performances for Liverpool have been great and, for me, I am always glad to see African players at the top level.
“He deserves his award and hopefully he has more years like this.”
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba also praised the Egyptian's performances this season and he says he is glad that the Premier League is seeing his full potential.
“He has always been a good player. We all knew he had it in him,” Drogba told the same publication.
“Maybe now he works with managers who are more willing to give him more responsibility.
“If you look at his national team too, he is maybe the biggest player they have.
“In Italy, he did very well with a big club and now he has gone to England and he is doing even better. He has been fantastic.”
Salah has made 35 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring 29 goals and further assisting in 10 more in all competitions.
