Heading into their New Year’s Day match against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, Manchester United captain Patrice Evra says his team is stronger than ever.
United come into this game off the back of a hard fought 1-0 win over Norwich this past Saturday.
Evra adds that with strikers Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie returning to the fold after missing the last game through injury, that United are the best team in the league and can retain their League title.
“The team is now playing better, we have that winning mentality and United spirit which was missing at the start of the season,” said Evra.
“I can see that our hunger has come back, so I'm confident, but I don't want to talk about the title.
“I just want to talk about the next game, Tottenham at home.
“We need to make sure that we win, and that we keep the momentum going.”
“The squad is strong, but it's not only about one player.
“We were also without Wayne [Rooney] and Robin [Van Persie] when we played against Stoke, and when they come back we'll be even stronger, which is why I'm so happy.
“With them, we are the strongest team in the Premier League, so we have to keep winning - with or without them.”
There has been plenty of speculation that Evra’s time at United is coming to an end, but the Frenchman says he is far from retiring.
"I will rest when I retire,” added Evra.
“I've got plenty of time to do that. I think a lot of people would wish to be in my position. I'm lucky and it's a privilege to play for Manchester United. To be able to play every game makes me so happy.”
