Bonucci Strike Secures First Leg Win For Juve

Leornado Bonucci's 85th minute strike secured a 1-0 win for Juventus over Olympique Lyonnais in their UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg clash at Stade de Gerland.

Carlos Tevez should have opened the scoring after just six minutes, but the Juventus striker managed head just wide of the target from inside the area, after some good work by Daniel Osvaldo.

Lyon registered their first effort on goal in the 25th minute as Steed Malbranque's close range shot drew a fine save from Buffon.

Just a minute later and Jimmy Briand squandered a great chance to give Lyon the lead, as the winger tried to lob the on rushing Buffon but ended up lobbing his effort over the crossbar.

That was as good as it got in the first half, as Juventus saw a lot of the ball in the opening 45 minutes, while the French outfit were happy to sit back and catch their opponents on the counter.

Lyon almost went ahead five minutes after the restart, as Samuel Umtiti's strike from the edge of the area flew just wide of the right-hand post.

Tevez nearly opened the scoring for the visitors in the 54th minute but the striker's effort from distance forced Anthony Lopes into a fine save.

Girogio Chiellini came close to giving the visitors the lead in the 72nd minute but the Italian fired his effort inches wide of the right-hand post from inside the area.

Lyon's Arnold Mvuemba tried his luck from distance two minutes later but the midfielder fired his effort wide of the target.

The visitors took the lead in the 85th minute through Leonardo Bonucci's shot from inside the area, following a corner from Andrea Pirlo.
