Eto'o Sends Chelsea Third

Goals from Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto'o were enough to secure a 2-1 win for Chelsea over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The win sees Chelsea move into third, two points behind leaders Arsena, while Liverpool drop down to sixth in the table.

Liverpool took the lead with just three minutes gone through Martin Skrtel, after Luis Suarez's header was deflected into the path of Skrtel, who finished into an empty net.

Chelsea almost responded immediately as Frank Lampard played in Eden Hazard, who could only fire straight at Simon Mignolet.

Gary Cahill headed wide in the 7th minute after an in-swinging free-kick from Lampard.

Lampard nearly brought the home side level with 11 minutes gone, the midfielder's long range effort drew a brilliant save from Mignolet.

Eden Hazard brought the Blues level in the 17th minute with a curling effort from the edge of area, after Oscar's pass had deflected into the Belgian's path.

Sameuel Eto'o gave Chelsea the lead in the 34th minute after poking home from close range, following a cross from Oscar.

Peter Cech was called into action in the 41st minute to deny Joe Allen, after Ashley Cole failed to deal with Raheem Sterling's cross.

Mamadou Sakho came close to bringing the visitors level in the 51st minute, but his header was only kept out by the upright, after a cross from Jordan Henderson.

Eto'o squandered a great opportunity to increase Chelsea's advantage, after he was left one on one with Mignolet bu this time the Liverpool shot stopper did well to deny the Cameroonian from close range.

Luis Suarez had been quiet for most of the game but in the 57th minute the Uruguayan's volley from edge of the area was easily dealt with by Cech.

Oscar had an effort at goal in the 69th minute, after dispossessing Lucas Leiva on the edge of the area, the Brazilian saw his low strike go narrowly wide.

Glen Johnson tried his luck at goal in the 73rd minute, but Cech did well to parry the defender's left-footed effort away for a corner.

Fernando Torres almost scored against his former side just after coming on, as he danced  pass Skrtel and Sakho but failed to beat Mignolet from close range.
