Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits his side is in a good position ahead of their English Premier League game against West Ham United on Sunday.

The Reds stormed to the top of the league table with an impressive 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, their eighth successive league win, and Rodgers explains how that result has given them the confidence to go all the way.

“It was probably psychologically our best (performance) of the season because of some of the background noise about pressure and having to win,” said Rodgers.

“The level we played at and the control showed the real confidence in the team.”          

The result against Spurs saw Liverpool up to 71 points on the top of league table from 32 games, two points above second place Chelsea and four above third placed Manchester City.

City, though, have played two games less than Liverpool. Still, if the Reds winning their remaining six league games which includes a match against City on April 13 they will lift the title.

“We're in a great position, but there's still a way to go, the finishing line's quite a way out,” added Rodgers.

“It's great for the players and supporters to dream, but we're calm and focused on what our job is.”

Liverpool take on West Ham on Sunday and Rodgers confesses that he is wary of the London-based club, especially two of his former players in Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing.

“They are both fantastic players,” confirmed Rodgers.

“Andy wasn't let go because he wasn't good enough. We had other financial aspects we had to look at. And I didn't want to sell Stewart, I was disappointed to see him go.”
