It was a highly entertaining Wednesday night in the English Premier League as 14 goals were scored across four games which saw Aston Villa, Sunderland and Manchester City register wins.
In the most engaging match of the evening Aston Villa ran out 4-3 winners over West Brom in a seven goal thriller.
Villa were stunned early on and saw themselves trailing by two goals after only nine minutes thanks to a wonder goal from Chris Brunt and an own goal from Fabian Delph.
Villa, though, were not to be out done and fought back to take a 3-2 lead thanks to goals from Andreas Weimann, Leandro Bacuna and Delph.
Still, the match entered half time locked at 3-3 after Youssouf Mulumbu equalised for West Brom two minutes before the break.
The second half was a much tighter affair and only a 64th minute penalty goal from Christian Benteke gave Villa the 4-3 win.
The result sees Aston Villa up to tenth place on the table with 27 points while West Brom dropped down to 15th on 22 points.
West Ham were able to earn a valuable point after holding Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
It was the first time in 15 matches that West Ham had kept a clean sheet against their London rivals.
The point, however, does not see West Ham out of the relegation zone as they currently occupy 18th place on 19 points.
For Chelsea, the dropped points saw them unable to jump into second on the table. The Blues sit in third place on 50 points, two adrift of second placed Arsenal.
A single goal from Adam Johnson saw Sunderland to a 1-0 win over Stoke City and out of the relegation zone into 17th place on 21 points.
Stoke are only one point and one place better off than Sunderland in 16th place.
The most dominant display of the evening saw Manchester City destroy Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 in a result that saw them jump to the top of the league table on 53 points.
