Newcastle 0-3 Sunderland
The Black Cats recorded a third straight Wearside derby win over their neighbours Newcastle at St. James Park. On loan Liverpool striker Fabio Borini opened the scoring when he slotted home a 19th minute penalty for Sunderland. On-from winger Adam Johnson then doubled the Black Cat’s lead five minutes later when he got on the score sheet for the seventh game in a row. Jack Colback then wrapped up the three points and made it 3-0 with a good finish in the final 10 minutes of play.
West Ham United 2-0 Swansea
Andy Carroll was on hand to set-up Kevin Nolan twice as West Ham picked up an important three points to ease their relegation worries. The former Liverpool striker twice provided cushioned headers for Nolan to score at Upton Park, in the 26th and 45th minutes respectively before being shown a red card for an altercation with Swan’s defender Chico Flores on the hour mark.
Cardiff City 2-1 Norwich City
Cardiff City came from a goal down to pick up a vital home win over Norwich to keep their Premier League survival dream alive. Robert Snodgrass opened the scoring for the Canaries in the fifth minute. Welsh striker Craig Bellamy then equalised for the home side in the 49th minute before new signing Kenwyne Jones scrambled a loose ball home and snatch all three points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
Fulham 0-3 Southampton
Bottom club Fulham were outclassed by an impressive Southampton at Craven Cottage scoring all three goals in a clinical second-half spell. Adam Lallana opened the scoring with just over an hour played, before England striker Rickie Lambert doubled the Saints lead in the 70th minute. The visitors then scored their third of the game through Jay Rodriguez’s 75th minute strike which killed off the tie.
