Reds Rampant At White Hart Lane

Liverpool handed Tottenham Hotspur their first defeat of the 2014/15 season with a 3-0 defeat at White Hart Lane in the Barclays Premiership match played on Sunday.

The Start of the match was very lively as debutant Mario Balotelli nearly had a dream start to his Liverpool career, but headed his effort into the hands of Hugo Llorris.

Liverpool were very good in the opening minutes of the match and created numerous chances and it did not a surprise as Raheem Sterling got the opener just eight minutes into the match.

The England international combined with Daniel Sturridge and Jordaan Henderson for the opening goal of the match.

Togolese international, Emmanuel Adebayor, nearly scored the equalizer a minute later only for his effort to go over the bar after he lobbed goalkeeper, Mignolet.

Tottenham also had their moments in the early stages of the first half . They enjoyed a good passage of play around the Liverpool box, but they could not find a way to penetrate the defence

The match went to the break with Liverpool enjoying a 1-0 lead.

Three minute into the second half, Liverpool won a penalty after Dier tugged the shirt of Joe Allen.

Steven Gerard stepped up as usual and beat Llorris for Liverpool’s second goal in the 60th minute.

Tottenham responded quickly and made double changes, which did not help as they conceded the third goal shortly afterwards.

Andrew Townsend, who had only been on the field for a matter of seconds, becomes a villain as he was dispossessed by Moreno inside the Liverpool half.

The Spaniard rushed towards the Tottenham goal, unopposed, and fired a superb low shot across Lloris and into the bottom corner for the third goal.

Liverpool continued to dominate with Sturridge looking to register his own goal, but he was very unlucky as the match ended with a big win for Liverpool.

In the other match, Aston Villa registered a 2-1 win over Hull City to continue with their good form into the new season.
