Chelsea were back to winning ways on Saturday, thrashing Stoke City 3-0 to remain in the race for the Barclays Premier League title.
The London side suffered a 1-0 shock loss to Crystal Palace in ther last Barclays Premier League game, and lost again midweek to PSG in the UEFA Champions’ League.
Mahamed Salah, handed a rare start by Jose Mourinho, put Chelsea ahead in the 32nd minute of the match.
The Blues continued to create more goal-scoring chances, but were let down by poor finishing in the last third of the field.
Chelsea looked to have added the second in the 40th minute, but Branislav Ivanovic’s header was ruled out because the defender was in an offside position.
The home side went into the break leading 1-0.
Veteran midfielder Frank Lampard made it 2-0 early in the second half as he once again proved his finishing abilities in front of goals.
Stoke were struggling on the day and created only a few goal scoring chances.
Chelsea’s dominance paid off in the 71st minute when Brazillian playmaker Willian took advantage of a good pass from Salah taking on a defender and curling the ball in for the third goal.
Chelsea kept on pressing, but Stoke were able to avoid the fourth goal with match finishing at 3-0 for the home team.
The win handed the London side their sixth straight clean sheet playing at home.
