England left Ukraine with a point after playing out a 0-0 draw in Kiev in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night.
The Three Lions struggled for clear chances against an organised Ukraine, but are still in good standing in their bid to qualify for the world showpiece as they remain top of Group H.
Frank Lampard was making his 100th appearance for England and could have capped off the occasion with a late goal, only to see his header go wide.
Ukraine started well and saw Roman Zozulya's cry for a penalty under a challenge from Joe Hart waved away in the first minute before Theo Walcott missed out at the other end.
The action continued with Artem Fedetskiy doing well to deal with a goalbound header from Gary Cahill before Rickie Lambert and Steven Gerrard failed to take their opportunities soon after.
The hosts had another decent chance in the 58th minute when they lively Yevhen Konoplyanka whipped in a cross which was flicked on but Gerrard dealt with the danger.
Konoplyanka's free-kick 13 minutes later was deflected off target by Phil Jagielka and Fedetskiy failed to bury a free header from the result corner.
Walcott sent and effort off target at the other end before Lampard failed with a late header as the spoils were shared.
