Kagisho Dikgacoi was solid in the centre of the midfield for Crystal Palace on Friday night in their promotion/relegation play-off match as his side drew 0-0 with Brighton & Hove Albion at Selhurst Park.
It was the semi-final first leg between Crystal Palace and Brighton, with the winner of the two-legged tie afforded the chance to fight for a place in the top flight
Palace went into the promotion/relegation play-off after finishing fifth in the English Championship.
It was certainly not the most of enticing of games as both sides took a defensive approach in a game they could ill afford to lose.
Brighton missed a number of opportunities in the first half to claim an away goal or three, but were made to weather a ferocious spell of second-half pressure by Palace.
Dikgacoi, though, was one of the standout players as he patrolled the centre of the midfield with poise and class.
Despite not creating many opportunities on goal, Dikgacoi was solid in the centre of midfield, providing that buffer in front of the back four as Brighton & Hove Albion were unable to create any decent goal scoring chances.
Dikgacoi will certainly play a key role when the two teams meet for the second leg, in a match that could decide who plays in the Barclays Premiership.
