Atletico Madrid confirmed on Monday that Diego Costa has a hamstring injury, but it seems neither Diego Simoene nor the star striker have given up on his appearance in the Champions League final.
Costa seems prepared to risk a more serious to appear in the game of his life, also putting his World Cup hopes in danger, as reported by Marca.
The Champions League final is not an ordinary-day game and many players hang up there boots without appearing in a game as big as this.
Costa has scored eight goals in eight Champions League games this season, helping his side to eliminate the like of FC Barcelona and Chelsea.
However, the 25-year-old has been struggling with a recurring hamstring injury since Ateltico’s quarter-final second leg against Barcelona.
Atletico coach, Simeone, will undoubtedly keep Costa’s place in the starting line-up until there is no chance that he can play.
The Brazil-born Spaniard has scored 36 goals for the Rojiblancos in all competitions this season and his absence would be a major blow for their titles hopes.
Costa has reportedly been visiting a Serbian therapist, who at some point ‘magically’ helped Robin van Persie to recover from an injury which should have kept him out for two months within just 10 days.
