Manchester United legend, David Beckham, says he is sad to see Danny Welbeck leave but believes the 23-year-old will shine at Arsenal.
Welbeck came through Old Trafford’s youth system and joined the Gunners for £16 million following the arrival of Radamel Falcao.
"Arsenal have a very good, young talented English player," Beckham to BBC.
"To see him leave Manchester United is sad. He had been there since he was eight and his heart was in Manchester."
Welbeck made his senior debut in 2008 and scored 29 goals in 142 appearances for United, but was one of 17 players who left Old Trafford during this transfer window.
Angel Di Maria, meanwhile, was one of six arrivals and will wear Beckham’s old number seven shirt.
"Di Maria is obviously a very talented player,” he added.
"He has played in the World Cup and won the Champions League but my advice to him wearing the number seven shirt is to enjoy it because wearing that shirt is without a doubt one of the proudest moments I have had in my career."
