Dani Alves Makes Debut As Paris Saint-Germain See Off Roma On Penalties
Dani Alves made his Paris Saint-Germain debut on Thursday morning as the French giants saw off Roma 5-3 on penalties in the International Champions Cup.
The Brazilian, who was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, started at right back in the 1-1 draw at Comerica Park.
The first half began slowly and had quite a few scrappy moments in it as both sides struggled to create anything in their opponents' final third.
PSG did, however, eventually grab the lead in the first half, when Thiago Motta tried to play a one-two with Jese Rodriguez, but went down under a challenge, with the ball falling to Marquinhos who put it away from inside the area.
Roma found an equaliser in the second half, when Umar Sadiq levelled proceedings on the hour mark after receiving a pass from Gerson and putting the ball neatly through shot-stopper Alphonse Areola's legs.
The Serie A outfit dominated most of the second stanza, but could not capitalise on the chances they created.
The match went to penalties as a result, and it was the French side who triumphed with a 5-3 scoreline from the shootout.
