Cristiano Ronaldo proved to be the difference as Portugal secured a 1-0 win away to Croatia in an international friendly match on Monday night.
The Real Madrid star found the back of the net in the 36th minute and both sides went on to waste a host of chances as the game ended 1-0.
The game started slowly but the hosts would create the first chance six minutes in when Ivica Olic failed to steer the ball into an empty net after a teammate had pulled the goalkeeper off his line.
Ronaldo then failed to turn Fabio Coentrao's cross home in the 18th minute but the attacker would not be so wasteful with his next chance. After some superb build-up play, Ronaldo hit the back of the net with a powerful drive into the bottom corner after skipping past a defender.
The Portugal captain then shook the woodwork five minutes later with a downward header as the visitors went into the break with their lead intact.
Vieirinha was unable to find Hugo Almeida at the far post at the start of the second period while Ivan Perisic nodded over before taking a poor touch with another chance soon after.
Rising star Alen Halilovic had the final chance of the game with four minutes to go but the 16-year-old saw his shot palmed around the post by Eduardo as Portugal left victorious.
