Cristiano Ronaldo may have gone on record to say he expects to see his contract out at Real Madrid, but the superstar is unsure what the future holds for his countryman, Real boss Jose Mourinho.
Mou’s relationship with Real Madrid, from board to fan-base, has been brittle since he first arrived at the Bernabeu, and is close to shattering now that Real have all but given up their La Liga title to their hated rivals, Barcelona.
Manchester City could be in the market for a new manager if they end the season without silverware, and PSG are also frequently linked to a move for The Special One.
But according to El Pais, Chelsea are now the most likely destination for Mou if he quits the Bernabeu, with his agent said to have contacted Roman Abramovich to sound out the chances for Mou to return to Stamford Bridge.
And while CR7 says he thinks Mourinho will stay at Real “at least” until the end of the season, after that, anything can happen.
"I do not know," Ronaldo told AS. when asked where he thinks Mourinho’s future lies.
"I think he will continue, at least until the end of the season, because he is a coach who always wants to win and we have some goals in from of us which we can achieve.
“After that he will decide what is best for him, for the group and for the club. But I do not know what he is thinking, nor the club, so I prefer not to talk about it."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo insists that all is well behind the scenes at Real Madrid.
He is among players like Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil, all of whom have had run-ins with Mourinho this season. But he is adamant that his relationship with his fellow Portuguese national is hunky dory.
"That is a personal matter, which is already sorted out," Ronaldo said.
"Everything is fine now. What happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room."
