Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has called on the fans to stay united following the most recent expression of dissent towards manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho's name was heckled after it was announced ahead of their 4-0 win over Celta Vigo in the Cop del Rey, where Ronaldo went on to score a hat-trick for Los Blancos.
The Portuguese tactician was then absent from the post-match press conference, but Ronaldo was on hand to appeal to the fans, saying that they need to focus on the positives.
"We must stand united and we need the fans to support us, there is still a lot to win," he told reporters.
Sergio Ramos, who was sent off in the match, also took the opportunity to praise Ronaldo, who was named Man of the Match, saying that the Portugal international is the best in the world.
"Ronaldo is very motivated, and I can see he is happy," the Spain defender said.
"He deserves his standing ovation and that affection. He's the best in the world."
