City, Swansea In Stalemate

Manchester City drew 0-0 with Swansea as substitute Edin Dzeko missed an open goal with five minutes remaining in their English Premier League clash.

Swansea dominated the first half, with Hernandez and Michu coming close to opening the scoring in the early stages.

City boss Roberto Mancini made two changes from the team that beat West Ham 2-1 last week, bringing in James Milner for Samir Nasri and Matija Nastasic for Joleon Lescott.

Pablo Hernandez was handed the first real chance after quarter of an hour when he linked up with Nathan Dyer only to be let down by a disappointing finish.

Swansea's dominance and Manchester City's apparent disinterest in the tie continued for the rest of the opening half.

The hosts' pressure culminated in a strong shout for a penalty with seven minutes of the first half to go.

Nastasic seemed to foul Michu in the centre of the Manchester City danger area, but, referee Mike Jones allowed play to continue.

After the break, Mancini brought on Dzeko for the second half, and the Bosnian forward made an impact.

But even though they dominated ball possession, Manchester City still found it difficult to create meaningful chances against a resilient Swansea side.

Swansea came out looking for a goal in the dying moments of the game, but City almost stole the game when Dzeko was set up with the perfect opportunity, but his close-range shot was skewed wide of the far post.
