Manchester City did not allow any surprises in their FA Cup third round clash against Watford as they secured a comfortable 3-0 victory on Saturday.
Roberto Mancini's side never looked in danger of suffering an upset. Carlos Tevez opened the scoring before goals from Gareth Barry and Marcos Lopes settled matters.
Watford were not intimidated by the Premier League champions in the early stages and tested goalkeeper Joe Hart with a couple of shots on target.
However, City soon took control of the clash and pegged the visitors back in their own half. Edin Dzeko seemed to put the hosts in front in the 20th minute when he turned a shot into the back of the net, but he was flagged for offside.
Five minutes later Tevez made it 1-0 to the home side. The Argentine's free-kick powered straight through the Watford wall and left Jonathan Bond with no chance to keep it out.
City doubled their lead one minute before the break. James Milner provided the telling cross that found Barry who nodded home.
The hosts dominated the second half and rarely gave the Hornets the ball.
Both Tevez and substitute Mario Balotelli came close to scoring a third but it was Lopes who sealed the win in stoppage time with a cool side-footed finish.
