Goals from Vincent Kompany and Negredo saw Manchester City come from a goal behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 in an English Premier League game at the Etihad on Boxing Day.
City started the better of the two teams and created the first chance on goal as early as the fourth minute when Jesus Navas met a cross from Kolarove on the left wing, but his header rebounded off the post.
Seven minutes later and Vincent Kompany was unlucky as he met a free-kick with a stinging header, but his effort went just wide.
Liverpool created their first chance on goal in the 13th minute as Luis Suarez met a Coutinho corner, but his header shaved the wrong side of the upright.
In the 25th minute Liverpool took the lead after a swift passing move saw Coutinho with a clinical finish from an acute angel as the Reds took the lead, 1-0.
City almost hit back two minutes later as Toure beat two defenders before he saw his powerful shot touched wide from the edge of the box.
The Sky Blues did find the equaliser in the 31st minute after Kompany headed home a corner-kick, 1-1.
City then applied the pressure and took the lead seconds before the half time whistle as Negredo was sent through on goal by Navas, and he made no mistake with a clinical finish to give the hosts the lead going into the break, 2-1.
The second 45 saw Liverpool applying the pressure, but Joe Hart was at his best in the 50th minute to deny Sterling from close range.
Hart was at his best again in the 70th minute after he pulled off a superb stop in a one-on-one with Johnston.
Liverpool continued to press forward after that, but a stubborn Liverpool defence kept them at bay as the match ended 2-1 in favour of City.
