Cesc Fabregas denies that he ever considered ditching Barcelona for Machester United.
The English champions vexed their Spanish counterparts with two failed bids for the former Arsenal skipper during the current transfer window.
Despite the fact that Fabregas has enjoyed great success since his return home from England- winning trophies, scoring more goals and playing more minutes per season- the myth persists that he is unhappy at the Camp Nou.
United must have been emboldened by reports that suggested Fabregas would consider his future at Barca unless he was assured of a regular starting berth this season.
But Barca have always vehemently denied that Fabregas was on the market at any price, and the midfielder’s excellent start to the season has confirmed his status as a key Barca player.
And so not for the first time, Fabregas has insisted that his future remains at his boyhood club, and that he has never been close to doing a runner to Old Trafford.
"I have never said that I could go, nor have I talked to the president or the coach about it," Fabregas told TVE.
"What I don't know is how this can be said to be true just because some journalist wrote it on Twitter.
"My dream is to stay here and succeed.
"I have a great desire to achieve even more and I am committed to this club and proud to be here."
