Cazorla Brace Hands Arsenal Win

A second half brace from Santi Cazorla saw Arsenal run out 2-0 winners over Fulham in an English Premier League match at the Emirates on Saturday.

The win sees Arsenal maintain their place at the top of the league table, one point above Manchester City who beat Cardiff also on Saturday.

It was all Arsenal from the first whistle as they dictated terms in the middle of the park and controlled the possession stakes.

Still, for all their dominance they could not breach the Fulham defence due to some poor decision making in the final third of the field and some bad finishing.

The best chance of the first half came in the 38th minute as a free-kick from Cazorla bounced off the defensive wall and fell into the path of Sagna, but his attempt was well-saved by the keeper. The rebound, though, fell to Olivier Giroud, but he too was thwarted by Stekelenburg with another fine stop.

Arsene Wenger must have showered his troops with commands at half time because the second 45 saw Arsenal playing more fluid football as they almost created chances at will.

Arsenal applied a mountain of pressure on the Fulham goal and were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 58th minute after a great passage of play.

Cazorla came off the left and fed Giroud, who in turn found Wilshere inside the box, while Cazorla continued his run to meet the square ball from Wilshere and opened the scoring with a clinical finish, 1-0.

Four minutes later and Cazorla found his second goal after capitalising on some poor defending from Fulham.

Monreal attacked down the left and saw his cross headed clear by Hangeland which fell to Cazorla, who controlled well and fired past Stekelenburg from outside the box, 2-0.

In the 74th minute only a great save from Stekelenburg kept his side two goals behind as Lukas Podolski fired a ferocious shot from just outside the box, but the keeper got his fingertips to it, touching it onto the post.

Arsenal continued to control the game and ran out comfortable winners on the day.
