Carlo Ancelotti has immediately responded to drawing European champions, Bayern Munich, in the Champions League semi-finals.
Real have met Bayern 20 times in UEFA competitions – the European Cup or the Champions League – including five semi-finals. The Los Blancos had their sole victory in 2000, while the Germans came out on top in 1976, 1987, 2011 and 2012.
Ancelotti, who won the Champions League twice with AC Milan, is wary of Bayern’s strength but insists his side have enough quality to reach the final.
“Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the world. They have a great team,” the Italian said.
“The semi-finals against Bayern will be very difficult but it’s not easy for anyone to play Real Madrid either.
“If we want to win the Champions League, we then have to beat everyone including Bayern.”
Real Madrid have reached the semi-final for a record-breaking 25th time and have won the title nine times, striving to win the famous ‘La Decima’ – their tenth trophy – this season.
The semi-finals between the two European giants will be played on the 23rd and 29th of April.
