According to The Sun, the 58-year-old, who is considered by many to be one of the leading candidates to take over at the London side, has been offered the Italy national team job.

The Italian Football Federation are understood to have asked Ancelotti to take over the Azzurri after they failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and reports suggest that a deal is close.

There are claims the former Paris Saint-Germain boss has been offered a two-year deal to manage his country, but no wage has been agreed just yet.

The Italian, who is known to provide stability and direction to his teams, is a favourite for the Arsenal job, and there are supporters and ex-players rooting for him to take over after Wenger's 22-year reign comes to an end.

It has also been suggested that Ancelotti could make a return to his former club Chelsea, where the situation around manager Antonio Conte does not seem pleasant at all.
