Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol, has announced he will be leaving the Blaugrana at the end of the season.
Puyol had called a press conference to announce his departure after almost 20 years at the Spanish giants in which he won every title on club level.
“The motive for this press conference is to inform you that I will leave FC Barcelona at this end of the current season,” the 35-year-old said.
“I am tired after so many injury problems and operations. The club and I have decided to rescind my contract.
"The recovery from my knee injury was more difficult than they said it would be. I cannot perform anymore at the level I'd want.
“The club knows of my decision. It doesn't mean that I am leaving today, there are 3 months of the season left to play.
“I will give everything until the end of the season. I don't yet know what I'll do after that. I first need to rest, then we'll see."
