Capital One Cup Wrap

Burnley 2 – 1 Nottingham Forest: Away side Forest opened the scoring in the 24th minute of the Capital One Cup game at Turf Moor, before Burnley quickly overturned the deficit thanks to two goals from Danny Ings in the 45th then 68th minute.

Hull City 1 – 0 Huddersfield Town: Nick Proschwitz was on target as his 59th minute goal was enough as Hull City beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 at the KC Stadium.

Leicester City 2 – 1 Derby County: Home side Leicester City clawed back from a 42nd minute goal by Chris Martin for the Rams, before Antony Knockaert equalised in the 78th minute and grabbed a winner three minutes later through Daniel Drinkwater.

Southampton 2 – 0 Bristol City: A volley by Gaston Ramirez and headed goal by Jos Hooiveld gave the home side a comfortable victory, scoring in the 15th and 83rd minute respectively at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

 Sunderland 2 – 0 Peterborough United: Kgosi Ntlhe’s Peterborough could not manage to win at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland. Emanuele Giaccherini opened the scoring for the Black Cats and substitute Valentin Roberge settled the tie in the 74th minute to give the team a morale boosting victory after the recent sacking Paulo Di Canio.

 Watford 2 – 3 Norwich City: The home side raced to a two goal lead with goals by a first-half Javi Acuna goal and a 55th minute Davide Faraoni strike, but they could not hold on against their Premier League visitors. Josh Murphy opened the scoring for the Canaries before a Gary Hooper double, the winner in extra-time puts them through to the next round.

West Ham United 3 – 2 Cardiff City: The home side threw away a two-goal lead but still battled past Premier League rivals. Ravel Morrison opened the scoring two minutes in, Matt Jarvis then added a second six minutes later before Cardiff regained their composure and pulled a goal back through Craig Noone on the stroke of half-time. They were level on 76 minutes when Peter Odemwingie struck, but Vaz Te had the final say with just two minutes remaining.
