Can Chelsea End City's Run

The make or break stage of the English Premier League has started, and tonight’s clash between Manchester City and Chelsea has the potential to be one of the games of the season.

With the hosts rallying from record-to-record, the spark of the match could be determined by Jose Mourinho’s tactical approach to the game. Will his side play the ‘19th century football’ which he labelled over West Ham’s performance in midweek, or will the Blues be line up for a spectacle at the Etihad?

City against Chelsea is also the league's best attack against the best defence, and both sides enter the game in impressive form.

Manchester City are on a run of 19 unbeaten games in all competitions, and have won their last eight consecutive league matches. The last time they won nine games in succession was in transition from the end of the 1911-12 to the 1912-13 season.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have already scored more league goals (68) than they had at the end of last season (66) and have netted an outstanding 115 goals in all competitions so far. They enter the match with a 100 percent league home record, winning all 11 games and scoring 42 goals along the way.

Chelsea, meanwhile are undefeated in their last eight matches in the Premier League and have kept five clean sheets out of their last seven outings. They travel to the Etihad on the back of three successive away clean sheets, and could level Man City on points if Mourinho’s side would be able to get the three points tonight.

City will have to replace their injured top scorer, Sergio Aguero, but still possess many attacking options. With in-form Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Negredo, likely to return from his shoulder injury, and Yaya Toure, on arguably the form of his career, Chelsea’s defence will have to be at their best to keep the shop closed.

Jose Mourinho will still be without Fernando Torres, who scored the Blues late 2-1 in the return match to hand City one of four away defeats this season.

Manchester City have won the last four meetings against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, but no team has won more games away at Man City in Premier League history.

Who will make a huge statement tonight or will the two sides share the spoils? Have your say in the comment section below.
