Brazil and AC Milan legend Cafu has revealed which player he believes will go on to become the beautiful game's next idol.
The Brazilian had high words of praise for his countryman Neymar during a recent interview with Laureus.com, and believes he could soon become the world's best player.
The Selecao captain was beaten by club teammate Lionel Messi to the 2015 Ballon d'Or title, and has not been nominated for this year's Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award, but the 45-year-old feels that will all soon change.
"Neymar's moment will happen. It didn't happen this time, but the next time, for sure, Neymar will increase his advantage over the others," Cafu said.
"Each player becomes the best in the world in their own time. He is very important for world football today, the way football should be played, content and happy. He could become one of the world's best football idols."
Cafu also admitted that he hopes Neymar will stay with the Blaugrana for many years to come as that will help transform him into the best player in the world.
"I hope that he can continue at Barcelona. Barcelona is a team that supports him, it's a team that provides him with structure to help him continue to shine," he added.
Neymar has made 40 appearances for the Catalan club so far this season, scoring 27 goals and assisting a further 23 strikes.
