Chelsea grabbed a valuable three points with a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to Arsenal on Sunday.
The Blues dominated the first-half and went into the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to a goal from Juan Mata and a penalty from Frank Lampard but Theo Walcott made things tense.
The Gunners had the first chance of the game when Walcott slipped Olivier Giroud through on goal but Frenchman fired just wide of the target.
That miss would be punished a minute later when Mata got onto a long pass from Cesar Azpiliceuta and produced a clinical finish past the goalkeeper.
Eden Hazard then then went on a superb run in the 10th minute and forced Wojciech Szczesny into a great save.
Things got worse for Arsenal moments later when Ramires was played in and then brought down by Szczesny in the area. Lampard took responsibility and calmly slotted home from the spot.
Ramires produced a poor a finish in the 36th minute as the Arsenal defence were again scrambling to deal with the movement from the Blues.
Arsenal looked a different side after the break though with Per Mertesacker testing Petr Cech in the 47th minute before Giroud produced a weak header 10 minutes later.
Walcott would restore their hope a minute later though when he broke the offside trap and clipped a superb finish past Cech.
Walcott dragged a shot wide three minutes later before substitute Demba Ba got around the goalkeeper but saw his finish cleared off the line brilliantly by Thomas Vermaelen.
Giroud had a late half-chance to snatch a draw but his header went just over the crossbar as Chelsea held on for the spoils.
