FIFA President, Joseph ‘Sepp’ Blatter says he learnt with ‘great sadness the passing of legendary football administrator and Premier Soccer League Life President, Dr Leepile Taunyane.’
Dr Taunyane, who was also a SAFA honorary member, died in Johannesburg last week, aged 85, and his funeral was held this past Sunday.
Over the weekend all PSL and NFD matches held a moments silence for him.
In a letter to SAFA President Danny Jordaan, Blatter wrote:
“Personally, and on behalf of the international football family, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the South African football community and, most importantly, to the family, friends and loved ones of Leepile Taunyane.
“We would hope that in some way, our words of support may bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness.”
