Blackburn Rovers came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw and force a replay against Manchester City in their FA Cup clash Ewood Park.
The opening 10 minutes of this FA Cup tie failed to produce a shot, but the game was extremely open and flowing with both sides going forward in numbers.
It took until the 20th minute for a first real chance was created when defender Dann rose highest in City’s penalty area following a corner kick and powered a header straight at Pantilimon in the visitors goal.
Alvaro Negredo then produced a lovely piece of skill on the half-hour mark when the Spaniard flicked the ball over Hanley and went through on goal, but Robinson saw the danger early and rushed off his line to clear the danger.
The final 10 minutes of the half and visitors started to take hold of the game with a sustained period of pressure, with Silva blasting over the bar from 10 yards before City opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time.
Silva whipped in a wonderful cross which striker Edin Dzeko got his head, but his effort was going wide until strike partner Negrado pounced at the back post and slotted home from close range.
The second-half started with the home side looking to claw their way back into this cup tie and attacking their opponents from the onset.
Blackburn’s second half pressure paid off when they equalised 10 minutes into the second-half when Pantillimon spilled a powerful header from Gustede and skipper Dann tucked away the rebound.
City then stepped up a gear and Blackburn’s defence was given a torrid time by the two City strikers, but their task was made that much harder when they had Boyata sent off for a second bookable offence in the 85th minute to set up a tense final few minutes of play.
