Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed that left-back Ashley Cole has agreed to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Reports in the media suggested that the 32-year-old was set to leave Stamford Bridge after his contract came to an end, and the England international was subsequently linked with a move abroad.
Benitez, though, revealed after their 2-1 win over Arsenal that Cole had agreed to a new deal, and all that was left was for him to complete the paperwork.
"Now the club has an agreement with the player... really pleased. The paperwork has to be done but the agreement is done," Benitez told reporters.
Cole has been one of the standout performers for he Blues over the last two seasons, having been crucial in their charge to the UEFA Champions League and consistently putting in good performances.
