Bayern Munich defender, Dante, has revealed that he is a target for Manchester United in the current transfer window as David Moyes seeks high quality players to upgrade their squad.
The 30-year-old Brazil international, who was a first-team regular in Munich’s squad that won five trophies last season, told Fox Sports Brazil: “I’m thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month.
"We have to wait until 31 January because there is a lot going on.”
However, Dante’s agent was very quick to declare his agent won’t be moving in this transfer window, but might use the United interest as a leverage in his ongoing contract negotiations with the Bavarian giants.
“There is no way that is going to happen. There is no agreement with Manchester United. He is not going to leave Bayern in the window,” Marcus Marin said.
“At the moment, Bayern are the only people we have spoken to anyway because we are talking over a new contract.
“We are still waiting for an answer from them (Bayern) and, although things happen very quickly in football, until that situation changes, we cannot speak to anyone else anyway.”
Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola, is rumoured to be interested in signing a new quality centre-back and Dante might the first option to be replaced.
However, a move away from a successful set-up such as Bayern seems very unlikely in this window, particularly with Dante keen to impress Brazil’s national team coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, ahead of the upcoming 2014 World Cup.
“Dante is at a crucial stage of his career, so he needs to think about one last big contract.
“He has had a brilliant year and won several medals, so we know how important the next few months will be.
“We are hoping that something can be resolved before the World Cup.”
