Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to 15 points after crushing 4-0 win over Schalke at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
The Bavarians hit the front through David Alaba after just 18minute before Bastian Schweinsteiger doubled their tally. Alaba completed his brace after the break before Mario Gomez added a fourth.
The game got off to a fairly slow start but the visitors would have the first chance when Michel Bastos fired in from the left but hit the side netting.
Bayern slowly took control though and saw Arjen Robben steer a perfect cross just wide before the hosts grabbed the lead. Franck Ribery was brought down in the area after twisting his defender inside out and Alaba took responsibility from the spot where he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Gomez missed a decent chance soon after but a second would arrive before the break when Schweinsteiger bent a brilliant free-kick into the bottom corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
Bayern were not done and just six minutes into the second period Gomez touched a cross into the path of Alaba who provided a neat finish.
Robben chipped the ball onto the roof of the net as Schalke struggled to hold on and Gomez would finally get his goal when he tucked away a ball over the top from Schweinsteiger.
Bayern slowed things down after the goal and comfortably saw out the win.
