Barcelona are reportedly preparing an audacious bid for Manchester City midfielder David Silva to replace their veteran this summer.
The Catalan giants, who just slipped into second place for the first time after 59 games or 533 days, see Silva as a potential long-term replacement for now ageing midfielder Xavi.
It is reported that Barcelona are willing to go “all out,” in order to lure the Manchester City star to the Nou Camp.
Silva has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League since his move to the Etihad, hitting 57 assists and 22 goals in just 160 appearances for the club.
Silva would apparently be tempted by the move back to his home country, as he attempts to further establish himself as a regular in the Spanish international side – a team that he has largely remained on the fringe of.
The 28-year-old came through the youth ranks of Valencia and made 163 appearances for the club before moving to Manchester City in 2010.
He was a central pillar in City’s recent FA Cup and Premier League triumphs and plays a major role under Manuel Pellegrini.
The Chilean is desperate to keep hold of his midfield maestro, but with Barcelona’s Xavi hitting almost 35, Barcelona appear ready to make their massive bid to get their star replacement.
