FC Barcelona have announced their £75 million stellar signing, Luis Suarez, will start training with the squad today after CAS had changed the conditions of his upheld ban.
The Court of Arbitration of Sport announced yesterday that it would not shorten Suarez’s ban in regards of official matches for club and country, but allows the player to train.
In addition, he can feature in test matches and club events. Following the announcement of the verdict, Barcelona confirmed Suarez will have his first training session at 9:30 AM today.
The Catalan giants also stated that the 27-year-old will be presented as a new Blaugrana player on Monday around the Joan Gamper Trophy.
However, it is yet to be seen whether Suarez will play a part in the match against Club Leon.
FIFA had initially banned Suarez from all football-related activity for four months for biting Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup, but CAS has now reverted the decision following the player’s appeal.
CAS confirmed the ban will be upheld for all official matches until 25 October, one day before Barcelona’s first El Clasico against Real Madrid.
