Barcelona claim that goalkeeper Victor Valdes will see out his contract at the club.
The Spanish international shot-stopper has been linked to a move away from the Camp Nou since revealing that he will not be seeking a contract extension with the club, when his current deal expires at the end of next season.
He has previously explained that he wants to broaden his football horizons before his playing days come to an end, by experiencing a new club, league and football culture.
As a result, it was thought Barca would seek to cash in on Valdes, rather than lose him for free.
They have subsequently been linked to Borussia Monchengladbach’s rising star between the sticks, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, as well as Liverpool’s Spanish international ‘keeper, Pepe Reina.
But now Barca have confirmed that Valdes will stay next season, casting into doubt their immediate search for a replacement.
“Victor Valdes stays at Barcelona until the end of his contract in June 2014,” Barca said via their official Twitter account.
