The international break was unkind to Barcelona, after two of their first-team regulars suffered injuries.
Wing-back Jordi Alba was the first Barca player to fall victim to the vagaries of international football, when he suffered a hamstring injury early during the break, which ruled him out of Spain’s win over France.
And then forward Pedro sustained a calf injury, after scoring the winning goal for La Furia Roja against Les Bleus.
Barca have now confirmed that 25-year-old Pedro will miss their weekend La Liga clash at Celta Vigo, and probably also next weekend’s visit of Mallorca.
Pedro was already suspended for the first leg of Barca’s Champions League quarter-final against PSG next Tuesday night.
"Tests have confirmed that the player has small muscle fibre tears in his left leg," Barca confirmed late on Wednesday night.
Without Pedro to supplement their attack, out of form Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez is likely to start Barca’s upcoming games.
While young winger Christian Tello will also be itching for another chance to feature in the starting line-up this season.
