Everton and Tottenham Hotpsur are the favourites to land Barcelona starlet, Gerard Deulofeu, on a season-long loan, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
19-year-old Deulofeu is considered one of La Masia’s star graduates, having worked his way up through the system from when he was just nine-years-old.
He is a staple of the Barca B team, and has made two appearances for the first-team.
He is also currently starring for Spain’s impressive Under 20 team at the World Cup.
Barca do not want to lose Deulofeu, but he is ready for first-team football, and is champing at the bit to achieve it.
He is understood to be keen on a season away from Barca to test himself in top-flight football, and would apparently favour a loan to the English Premier League.
Both Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas and new Toffees manager, Roberto Martinez, harbour hopes of playing Barcelona-style passing football.
And so the Spanish media believes they are in pole position to land Deulofeu, in what would be an eye-catching transfer coup for either EPL team.
Deulofeu’s agent, Gines Carvajal, is the Mr 20% responsible for the move to Stoke of Deulofeu’s friend and former Barca team-mate, Marc Muniesa.
And so it could well be that another youngster schooled in the ways of tiki-taka could soon be making his mark in England’s first division.
