Napoli star, Edinson Cavani, says that he dreamed of playing for either Barcelona or Real Madrid as a boy.
The Uruguyuan international striker is a rumour mill staple, with reports suggesting Los Blancos want him to spearhead their attack next season, in place of Gonzalo Higuain.
Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly also in line to sign Cavani, but he has suggested that if he had to choose, a move to one of La Liga’s two giants would please him best.
“When we are little we always dream, and the first teams that come into your head are those on the world stage, for their marketing, their image, their publicity,” Cavani said according to both Marca and AS.
“That makes you dream about how nice it would be to play for Real Madrid, to play for Barcelona."
Cavani also reiterated that for now, he remains a Napoli player. And that nothing has been agreed with any of his alleged suitors, in Spain or elsewhere.
“It is all an unknown and nobody knows,” he said, when pressed on Real’s interest in him specifically.
“When the moment comes we will see. As long as there is nothing signed, there is nothing done. All the talk does not concern me nor distract me. Only God knows what might happen. I am relaxed with what I am doing.
“I have a contract at Napoli.
“I ended the season not long ago knowing that we had achieved a nice objective in qualifying (for the Champions League) and also fulfilling a personal objective that is very important for me: to be the top scorer in the league. (Napoli) today are one of the most famous teams in the world.”
