Barcelona director Toni Freixa says that losing Lionel Messi to injury will make his 'Messi-dependent' Barca team weaker, but they will still been playing great football.
??Messi limped off injured after a muscle tear in his left hamstring in the Spanish champions’ 4-1 win over Real Betis on Sunday.
?With Messi ruled out for around eight weeks, it means there is very little possibility of him being involved again in 2013.
“The team are always ‘Messi-dependent’ because it is impossible not to be with the best player in the world”, Freixa told gathered journalists.??
“People talk about it like it is something bad but it is a good thing. So in that regard, yes we are weaker; we need to have other assets and just now they are functioning.??
“We are still Messi-dependent, because the best in the world always makes a difference, but the team are performing at a top level.”??
Messi has now been out with three injuries this season, and there were recent concerns after he failed to find the net in four games, but has still managed to has scored 14 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season.
