Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has revealed that his record signing, Gareth Bale, will miss Wednesday’s Copa de Rey match with Olimpic de Xativa due to a ‘small injury’.
The Los Blancos have to overcome a 0-0 draw from the first leg of the round of 32 and will have to do so without their Welshman.
Ancelotti confirmed in a press conference that Gareth Bale has picked up a minor injury and will be replaced by Angel Di Maria.
"Gareth has picked up a small injury during training and will not be available for Wednesday's game," Ancelotti said.
"Di Maria will take his place in the starting XI. Angel didn't play well against Osasuna, but he will get another chance on Wednesday.
The Real Madrid coach, however, expects Bale to just sit out the one cup match and be ready for Real’s La Liga encounter with Valencia.
"We will have to wait and see how Bale's injury develops, but I do not expect any problems for Sunday's game against Valencia."
The injury will be a set-back for Gareth Bale, who recently found his form for Real. The Wales international has registered seven goals and six assists in La Liga this term and promised his best is yet to come.
