Gareth Bale’s agent says the Spurs star is better than Neymar, and that he would “listen to Real Madrid” if the Spanish giants came to him with an offer.
Spurs are desperate to retain the services of Welsh international Bale, who scored 21 goals for them last season to confirm his status as one of European club football’s hottest talents.
Los Blancos failed in a last-minute bid to derail Neymar’s move to Barcelona, and are now believed to have turned their attentions to Bale.
Yesterday the Bernabeu club stated that their nominal director of football, Zinedine Zidane, would have a big say in their future transfer dealings.
And ‘Zizou’ recently went on record to state his admiration for Bale.
“Is he good enough for Real Madrid? Of course. He is more than good enough to play for Real Madrid,” Zidane said last week.
Spurs are waiting for Bale to agree to the £150 000 per week contract extension they have reportedly offered him.
And they will be alarmed to hear the player’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, open the door to Real president Florentino Perez.
Barnett says that he and Bale would entertain Perez, and that Bale is certainly good enough to star for Los Blancos in his own right, and not as a consolation signing for the failure to land Neymar.
“If someone like Perez was interested in Bale it would be a great honour. And we would listen,” Barnett said on MarcaTV.
“We’re not speaking to anybody… Bale is better than Neymar. He’s proved himself better than Neymar. He’s proved himself in the best league in the world.”
“I would hope that any club who wants him [Bale], wants him not because they lost Neymar,” Barnett added.
“I would think he’d have to be their first choice… Listen, it’s crazy, but whatever Neymar cost, Gareth Bale is worth more.”
Is Bale better than Neymar? And would he make a good signing for Real Madrid?
