The Guardian's Rumour Mill has delightfully pointed out that an anagram for Gareth Bale's name is 'Grab The Ale', and you may well need an ice cold brew to help you digest the latest snippet of this ongoing transfer saga!
Bale has bunked off training at Tottenham Hotspur, despite the club having requested his presence.
The Welsh international had been ‘recovering from injury’ at the Marbella villa of his agent’s business partner.
He is expected to join Real Madrid in a world record bid at any time, and the Spanish club has reportedly even assembled a stage at the Bernabeu in readiness for his unveiling to the fans.
But despite the litany of reports suggesting a deal between the two clubs has been agreed, the official announcement just will not come.
That announcement has put a spanner in the works as far as Madrid are concerned, and the football world is now anxious to learn the identity of Bale’s claimed second suitors, or to discover if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is simply trying to drive a harder bargain.
Meanwhile, Bale has flown back from the Spanish coast having failed to seal his desired move to the Bernabeu.
And said to be in a strop with Spurs for the way they have stalled his transfer, he has refused to show up for practice at the London club’s training ground.
