Demba Ba didn't waste time in introducing himself to the Chelsea fans as he bagged a double on his debut to help them to a 5-1 win over Southampton in their FA Cup clash at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday.
The Saints had taken the lead 22 minutes in when Jay Rodriguez tucked away a sumptuous pass from Jason Puncheon with what was the first real chance of the game.
Chelsea started to show some urgency and went close through Eden Hazard who curled a shot just wide of the target four minutes later.
Ba, who recently completed his switch to the Blues from Newcastle United, would then pull the game level when Juan Mata scooped the ball over the goalkeeper and he simply tapped the ball over on the line.
The turnaround was then completed by Victor Moses on the stroke of half-time when he buried a ferocious half-volley after good work from Ashley Cole.
Chelsea continued to press after the break and seven minutes in Branislav Ivanovic got onto the end of a terrific cross from Juan Mata to bury a powerful header.
Ba then completed his double in the 61st minute when he produced a neat finish at the near post after a superb cross from Hazard.
The final nail in the coffin came from substitute Frank Lampard who drilled a penalty straight down the centre after Yoshida had handled in the area, although the decision seemed a bit harsh.
