Andre Villas-Boas refused to comment on the future of Gareth Bale again, after Tottenham Hotspur cruised to victory in the Europa League without the Welshman last night.
But Bale’s move to Real Madrid appears to be a fait accompli, with the announcement of his mega money transfer simply a matter of time.
Spanish football media insiders are torn as to whether the news will be made public on Friday or early next week, with the suggestion that Spurs want to complete their own transfer business, before they own up to having taken between £90million-£100million from the Bernabeu coffers.
However, the jig appeared to be up last night, when visitors to Real’s stadium for club legend Raul’s testimonial were given the chance to order Bale’s name on the back of their replica kits from the official club store.
Either Bale is already a Real player in all but announcement, or the Spanish giants have made a spectacular marketing misfire.
One way or another, AVB would not be coaxed into revealing the truth about Bale.
“On Gareth, I am not able to comment on anything,” he said.
“That has been my tone since the start of the season, and I will not come out of it.''
