Atletico Madrid’s sporting director, Jose Luis Perez Caminero, has talked down transfer rumours that his in-form stars Diego Costa and Koke will be departing for England in this transfer window.
Brazilian-born Diego Costa, who recently declared he wants to play for the Spanish National Team, is currently La Liga’s top goal scorer.
He signed a new long-term deal before the season started, but his form impresses the big clubs in England.
According to British media Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all linked with Costa’s name and prepared to pay his buy-out clause of €38m.
"The player has a clause of 38 Million Euro and the big clubs in England know this," Atletico’s sporting director is quoted by Marca.
"Diego Costa has matured and is smart when it comes to decision making.
"Right now, Costa does not think of leaving, he is hooked on Atletico. He has re-signed a deal that is important, I am confident he will continue with us."
The 25-year-old has scored 19 La Liga goals in only 18 games this season and also scored four additional goals in the Champions League so far.
Recent weeks have also suggested that United are preparing a move for Atletico’s 21-year-old midfield starlet Koke, who scored the only goal in his side’s crucial 1-0 at Malaga over the weekend.
But again, Caminero is confident that the United target, who like Costa is contracted to the club until 2018, has no intentions of leaving the Vicente Calderon.
"I'm not surprised with this subject," Caminero responded, when asked about United's interest.
"He is a player who has improved considerably. It has also made it into the Spain squad and that puts you in the spotlight and opens more eyes.
"Koke will be with us for many years. I am convinced," he concluded.
Will we see big moves in this January transfer window or will stars like Diego Costa and Koke stay at their current clubs? Which transfer move would you like to see?
