Atletico Madrid closed the gap to Barcelona at the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Levante at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.
Adrian Lopez opened the scoring for the hosts and a super strike from Koke sealed the deal just past the hour mark as Atletico reduced the deficit to the Catalans to eight points.
Radamel Falcao came close with a header in the third minute but his attempt was blocked by David Navarro.
Levante then threatened at the other end of the pitch via Ruben Garcia's powerful shot but Thibaut Courtois made the vital save.
Javier Manquillo set up the first goal in the 32nd minute as he surged down the flank before crossing for Adrian who finished into the empty goal.
The home side were dealt a heavy blow 12 minutes into the second half when Falcao pulled up as he was chasing after a ball and signalled that he needed to be replaced.
However, the three points were secured in the 61st minute. Koke unleashed a thunderous shot from outside the area and found the back of the Levante goal to make it 2-0.
Obafemi Martins then came close to cutting the advantage in half, but his shot went just past Courtois' far post.
Atletico are now on an 18-game winning streak at home in all competitions and last conceded in front of their own fans in October.
