Aaron Ramsey Back For Arsenal

Arsene Wenger says Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal are ready to make their comeback against Everton on Sunday, but revealed that Mesut Ozil will miss the FA Cup semi-final against Wigan.

Arsenal have dropped to fourth spot and with seven points to log leaders their title hopes are all but over. Instead, the Gunners need to secure the fourth spot, sitting only four points above fifth-placed Everton who also have a game in hand.

"Aaron and Nacho Monreal are back training with the squad, so that is good news," Wenger said.

"Hopefully they will be available for Sunday.

Particularly Ramsey’s return will delight Wenger, after the central midfielder has been side-lined since December 26 with a thigh problem and a couple of setbacks.

The Welshman had played his best season for the Gunners, scoring eight Premier League goals and assisting further six, but Wenger tried to lower expectations the 23-year-old will immediately return to his best form.

“(When you’re out for) three months, then it takes two or three weeks. He has worked very hard for a while in training now. What he lacks is competition," the Frenchman continued.

“He's an all-round midfielder who can score goals and always drives the team forward. He's a real box-to-box player so it's good to have him back.

“It's an area where we are short because we have many midfielders out. We have Wilshere and Ozil out in this area, so of course it's good to have him back.”

Wenger also confirmed that Mesut Ozil, who sustained a hamstring injury against Bayern Munich last month, is still absent and will remain side-lined for Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final with Wigan on April 19.

"The FA Cup will be too soon for him, but he will hopefully be back soon after that," he confirmed.

Wenger added that Abou Diaby is "back on the pitches" as the Frenchman, who has not played since March 2013, bids to return to action before the end of the season.

Meanwhile, centre-back Laurent, Koscielny, remains unavailable with a calf strain but could return in time for Arsenal's next home match against West Ham on April 15.

"He is still out. The earliest (he will be back) is next week, the latest is the week after," Wenger added.

Finally, when asked about the progress of long-term absentees Theo Wlacott (torn ACL) and Jack Wilshere (foot injury), the Arsenal boss said: "They are all right. They are doing well. It is still early for them. Of course, for Theo the season is finished, and Jack is progressing well."
