Arsenal See Off Stoke

Arsenal beat Stoke City 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon to go to the top of the Premier League, as Mesut Özil impressed his new home fans, as he was involved in all of the goals.

Aaron Ramsey gave Arsenal the perfect start as he pounced on the ball, after Igor Begovic failed to hold onto the ball from a set piece, and scored in the 5th minute to make it 1-0.

In the 25th minute Kieran Gibbs got the ball from Mathieu Flamini but his attempted shot went wide and high.

Stoke made it 1-1 in the 27th minute, as first Marko Arnautovic's shot hit the post, and the ball fell to Geoff Cameron just outside the box who slotted it home.

Per Mertesacker gave Arsenal the lead again as he headed home from a Mesut Özil corner in the 37th minute to make it 2-1.

Özil was setting up a few chances for the Gunners, and Serge Gnabry tried a shot in the 41st minute but it flew over, and halftime it remained 2-1 to Arsenal.

Gnabry was set up by Özil again in the 48th minute but his shot was stopped by Begovic

In the 54th minute Olivier Giroud came close for Arsenal but Begovic got up to save his shot in the top right corner.

Five minutes later Özil set up Giroud for another chance, but his shot flew over the goal.

Marc Wilson had a chance in the 64th minute, as Stoke tried to find the equalizer, but his shot from outside of the box, was saved by Wojciech Szczesny.

Robert Huth tried to head in from a corner in the 70th minute, but his attempt went wide.

Arsenal got their third in the 72nd minute as Bacary Sagna headed in from a free kick taken by Özil.

Szczesny was back in the action in the 75th minute, saving a long range shot attempt from Marko Arnautovic, and Stoke had another chance two minutes later but Ryan Shawcross could only watch his header go wide.

Ramsey almost made it four in stoppage time but Begovic was able to tip it over.
